5 Quick tips to manage a successful workspace

It’s quite easy to talk about implementing systems and procedures to make sure that your office runs smoothly. However, only you will really understand your workflow and the exact resources you’ll need to run your office optimally.

I want to share some tips that I know will help you run your office more efficiently and therefore more productively. Perhaps you’re currently doing some or all of these, or perhaps none of them at all. Either way, I suggest take what you need from the list and implement them straight away.

1.   Consolidate tasks

If up until now you’ve been flying by the seat of your pants then making an effort to put together a task list will more than likely increase your work efficiency. Choose one system that will keep your day in check, whether it’s an online tool like Trello, or just an old-fashioned written list. Find out what works best for you and stick with it.

2.   Eliminate distractions

In an age of digital awareness and a constant bombardment of online news it’s easy to allow yourself to get distracted with what’s happening out there.

Monitor the time you spend on the internet. Plus take action like screening your calls and minimize drop-in meetings. Use your breaks to handle personal business or ask a stay at home family member to take care of this for you.

3.   Better time management

With good time management and planning you can improve your business. Monitor when you check your emails, set aside time for making essential phone calls and schedule time for filing and catching up with staff members.

4.   Office housekeeping

Here I’m referring to managing systems and resources as information and people are the lifeblood of any organisation. Any system that frees up your time to work on projects that generates profits is an essential part of your business and should get the attention it deserves.

5.   Make lifestyle changes

Get enough rest at night to avoid feeling tired and energyless during the day. With the same token make it a habit to exercise on a regular basis, and for you this could mean twice a week or every second day. Keep an elevated mood by taking breaks away from your computer & desk and make the most of meal time by eating healthy good food.

Conclusion

Of course there are so many more tips that can help you be more efficient and productive during the day. Again use what’s good for you now and implement as you go along.

If you’ve found some tricks that work really well for you, please do share them, I’m always open and happy to learn from others!

‘Til next time, happy working!
