My Journey as a Virtual Assistant by Carrinna Buthelezi

Me, Myself and I

Either by choice or by chance, this is the path I am now on at this time in my life. My name is Carrinna. I’m continuously trying to come up with ideas for life that I hope will surprise and delight those closest to my heart, my daughters and the people I work with. I am the mother to two girls who have taught me to enjoy the simplicity of every day. I have been an unofficial VA for the past year, and I didn’t even know it, but officially I’ve been a VA for the past 5 ½ months. The reason why I chose to be a VA was that it gave me the freedom to CHOOSE with whom I want to work with but also to be able to spend more quality time with my two amazing daughters.

With a solid 20-year track record of supporting senior executives in providing all kinds of administrative and managerial support, I believe I am the most versatile, reliable, and efficient administrative professional around. I give my everything and in doing so try to make myself as indispensable as possible. Over the past 20+ years, I have grown my diversified skills to include event management, client relations, human resources, recruiting, project management, and vast amount of administrative support, and with excellent phone and digital communication skills, I have made myself a force to be reckoned with.

My daughters are at an age when they want my attention all the time. Over the years I’ve done a lot of travelling and worked such long hours that I did not spend the time I really want to, with my daughters. Now, they’re growing up, at impressionable ages when not spending time with them, makes marks on them that can potentially stay there for a long time, I decided to take the Virtual Assistant route. Being a VA has allowed me to do what I love, AND be with those that I love. I can take time out to go watch them at athletics, go to a parent teacher meeting and participate in the way they do projects and allow them to be the young ladies they will eventually grow up to be!

Being an executive administrative assistant for over 20+ years have allowed me to grow my skills in every way possible. I’m the type of person that doesn’t stick to just the job I should do, I look for ways I can add more value to my clients’ everyday lives. My clients also benefit from my experience and I have been able to tailor make packages that will be the most beneficial to not only their business but also their budget. In being as versatile as possible my experiences have always been positive and I can say with a surety that I love my job. I believe that if you love what you do, you bring out the best in yourself and in the people around you.

I work really hard, and I go after what I want. I try and spend my time doing things that make me happy because life is too short to spend your time doing too many things that you hate. I also think about ice cream, and chocolate…all the time.
